Eastern Shore Vehicle Maintenance Shop Conversion
This adaptive reuse project transformed an existing storage building into a fully functional vehicle maintenance shop, reimagining the structure to meet the operational demands of modern vehicle servicing. The conversion required innovative architectural and engineering solutions to repurpose the space while preserving the integrity of the original structure.
Key to the project was the 3D coordination of specialized vehicle maintenance equipment, executed in close collaboration with the owner’s equipment vendor. This process ensured precise integration of lifts, diagnostic tools, fast rollup doors, exhaust removal, and other critical systems, optimizing workflow efficiency and spatial functionality within the shop.
Structural alterations to the existing pre-engineered steel building frame were carefully designed to accommodate the new operational requirements. Modifications included reinforcing the frame to support door operation loads while meeting coastal wind concerns, reconfiguring openings for improved access, and enhancing the building envelope to meet current energy and environmental standards.
The result is a high-performance vehicle maintenance facility that blends practicality with durability, delivering a tailored workspace that supports the owner’s operational goals while breathing new life into an underutilized structure.
